The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) works to improve the educational success of individuals with disabilities and/or gifts and talents through advocacy, standards, policies, and professional development.
Special Education Services provides technical assistance to all education agencies serving Alabamas gifted children as well as children with disabilities. SES is also responsible for compliance with laws and regulations and for processing complaints and requests for due process hearings and mediation regarding special education issues.
