The Purdue OWL (Online Writing Lab) provides a useful guide to proper Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) formatting.
Note that in Chicago style, in-text citations can be handled in two different ways, by a Notes & Bibliography system (footnotes within the text of the paper and an alpha-by-author bibliography at the end) or an Author - Date system in which in-text citations are followed by the Author's Last Name and the publication date in parentheses. Papers written using the Author - Date system will also have a bibliography like that of the first system. Ask your professor which system you should use!
