Today the college community gathered to remember John J. Burke Jr., a benefactor and nine-year Trustee for Spring Hill College, with a memorial in the library's lobby.
He is most widely known on The Hill for the funding, building and dedication of the Mamie and John Burke Memorial Library in September 2004. John and his brother, Kevin Burke ’66, provided the funding for the facility, which they named in memory of their parents. A portrait of John and Kevin's parents hangs in the Burke Memorial Library's main lobby.
