A guide to ebooks at Spring Hill College's Burke Library

Searching for E-Books

All e-books at SHC are fully catalogued in the Burke Memorial Library Catalog; the record in the catalog is a durable link and may be added to a Course Site for course readings or added as a hyperlink to a document or presentation.

Here is an example of an EBSCO e-book as it appears in the catalog:

Irr, Caren, and Ian Buchanan. On Jameson From Postmodernism to Globalization. Albany: State University of New York Press, 2006.

E-book records may be added to the "My Favorites" list after logging into the catalog so that the reader can return to the e-book with ease.  Inside the eBrary interface a BOOKSHELF feature offers a way to store for later reading a copy of the e-book which may or may be have been annotated by that person.

Using EBSCO's E-Book Search Engine

Another way of finding e-books at our Library is to use EBSCO's own search engine:

Click on the EBSCO E-book Collection on the Electronic Databases page.

Browse e-books by broad subjects under the BROWSE BY CATEGORY header.

Search by Keyword in the Ebsco Search Box.

Search by title, author subject, publisher, etc. using the advanced search.  Searches of the entire text are a default search in the basic search.  For a search of a particular book title, use the title search field in the advanced search or if using the basic search put the title of the book in quotes.
