In this recent YouTube clip, Jimmy Buffett is interviewed by his daughter Delaney about his song "Love in the Library" set in Mobile's downtown public library. Buffett speaks of being inspired by libraries growing up as well as time spent at Spring Hill College's library. He cites Mark Twain and Flannery O'Connor as literature favorites. He recalls that O'Connor is from his home state of Mississippi and loves her short story, "A Good Man is Hard to Find." (BTW, O'Connor is from Georgia, but that's ok, Jimmy! We get the sentiment.)

Buffett spent plenty of time on the campus of Spring Hill College. He married his first wife Margie Washichek in 1969 at St. Joseph Chapel. Margie graduated from SHC that year with a degree in English. Many students recall hearing him play outside of dorms while courting Margie.

In the mid-1950's, Buffett served in the Chapel as an altar boy. In 1983, he wrote, 'I was supposed to have been a Jesuit priest' in the opening lyrics to "We Are the People Our Parents Warned Us About."
