The Roots of Cuban Baseball at Spring Hill College

by Lauren Jensen on 2022-09-06T10:18:00-05:00 in Archives | 0 Comments

Philip Jordan, Communications Director at Alabama Mosaic, recently completed research on the beginnings of Cuban baseball and its connections to Spring Hill College.  With research assistance from Bret Heim, Professor and Director of Library & Instructional Resources, and Katy Young, Interlibrary Loan-Government Documents Assistant, the article delves into the earliest players, their time at Spring Hill College, and how them went on to form the Habana Base Ball Club.  This club would go on to include Ernesto Guilló, Nemesio Guilló, Lorenzo Bridat, and Esteban Bellán.

The full article is available from the Alabama Mosaic, the annual magazine of the Alabama Humanities Alliance.
