Searching Books

When you need a full-length book source, or at least some portion of one, you have several options.

The Burke Library Catalog, obviously. Limit your search to Book to get both print and ebook results, or choose your preferred format. Remember that you can request books through Inter-Library Loan if Burke doesn't own the title that you want.

Ebook Central: Access to ebooks on many topics.

The Mobile Public Library catalog

Google Books

Amazon.com

Once you have found a title of interest, you need to examine it either in person (so to speak) or electronically. Google Books and Amazon both offer the option to "look inside." Pay particular attention to chapter titles and the index. Learn what you can about the author, and read any reviews you can find. See Tools for Searching Books on the menu to the left.
